Description: The following guide outlines the appropriate steps on SkyTab POS devices to disable the Petunia application, which can cause IP print issues if left enabled. This process will be outlined with the assistance of the PAX AirViewer application.
Locate the Device in PAXSTORE
-
Log in to the PAXSTORE website using your assigned credentials.
-
Select the Market Place List (3 x 3 grid) button at the top right of the window by your user name.
-
Select SHIFT4 MARKETPLACE from the Marketplace List.
-
Select Terminal Management on the left side panel.
- Select the Terminal List tab from the navigation at the top.
-
Enter the search criteria (usually your MID or device serial number) into the search bar, then select the desired device from the results list.
Important: Ensure the search category is “Name” or “SN,” depending on what you plan to search. (Example: if searching by MID, use “Name.” If searching by device serial number, use “SN.”)
- Once you enter your search criteria and select Enter, select the device that matches what you’re searching for. Ensure that the device shows that it is “Online”!
Install AirViewer
-
Verify that the device is Online in PAXSTORE and then navigate to the AirViewer tab.
-
If the AirViewer application is not yet installed on the terminal, you may install it from here by selecting Install AirViewer.
- Once successfully installed, AirViewer will automatically start running in the background on the device. You may proceed to connect to the device by selecting Connect.
- This initiates the Remote Session request on the PAX device. The caller will receive a prompt on the device (that automatically declines after 60 seconds) requesting to approve your remote session. Advise the caller to tap Approve.
- Once approved, your remote session will begin. At this point, select the Apply for Remote Control button at the top-right corner of the AirViewer window in PAXSTORE.
- A new request will be sent to the PAX device to allow remote control of the terminal. Advise the caller to tap Approve.
Disable the Petunia Application
-
Begin by selecting the version, serial, and IP information five times down in the bottom middle of the screen of the SkyTab POS application in order to access the secret menu.
- Select Open for Android Settings.
- Select Search settings in the top left corner.
- Type in “petunia” in the search bar.
- Select Petunia (App info).
- Press Force Stop.
- Select the Disable button.
- Select the Disable App button within the pop-up.
- Power cycle the POS.
- Navigate back to Android Settings > Petunia.
- Make sure the application shows an “Enable” button. This confirms it is disabled.
- Ensure the Force Stop button is not active (it should be grayed out).
- Select the Home button in AirViewer to return the device back to the SkyTab POS application.
- You may now exit AirViewer if no other adjustments are needed by selecting the Close button.
- Select OK to confirm the exiting of AirViewer.
