Navigating the Screen Layout Designer
- From the back office, navigate to Retail and Commerce > Channel setup > POS setup > POS > Screen layouts.
- On the left navigation bar, choose the desired screen layout that is being used by your Register or Store. In this case, we are using A3MGR.
- Under the Button grids section, select the Designer option.
- Log in using your Azure credentials.
- Once you’re logged in, the Button Grid Designer tool should populate.
Important: To better navigate through the Button grids, it helps to know exactly which screen layout resolution you’re working with. Each Resolution has a dedicated subset of button grids, which will denote which button grid we will need to configure later in this guide, based on the POS screen resolution. If you know the screen resolution of the POS station you’re working with, select this option (or the one closest) from the Layout Sizes section, and view the Button grid ID for the section Name we’ll be working with.

Setting Up Payment Operations Buttons
- Verify what layout grid the following operation buttons should or already reside in:
- Get report
- Pay token
- Tokenize card
- Submit batch
- If these do not exist currently, you can create a new subset of buttons. To do so, choose Select grid and locate the designated Button grid, then right-click and select New button. In this case, we’re using A2T1M.
- Under Action, select Sub menu, and under Menu, select the place where these buttons should be placed. In this case, we are using Payment: 5.
- Give this button a unique name; in this case, we are naming it Shift4 Functions.
- Once created, select the button to navigate to the Sub menu screen you selected previously.
- Once in this layout grid, add new buttons or modify existing ones with the following values using the POS Operation IDs created previously for the parameter options.
- Tokenize card (9820)
- Pay token (9821)
- Get report (9825)
- Submit batch (9826)
- Change the Appearance of these buttons as you see fit; once done, select OK.
- It may also help to create a Back button. To do so, simply create a new Sub menu button that redirects back to A2T1M.
- Lastly, we need to make sure that the Pay Card button is configured correctly. To do so, verify in the Backoffice what the designated Button grid ID is for the Payment methods buttons. In this case, we are using Payment methods: A2T5.
- Right-click the Pay card button and select Button properties.
- Under Actions, select Pay card, and under Payment type, select Cards. Once done, select OK.
- Close the Button designer and run a Distribution Schedule task to push the parameter changes to the POS Software module. If you still have other changes to make, leave this step for last.
- Select Save.
