Description: Learn about two-factor authentication, which allows you to add an extra authentication step to your login for added security.
What is Two-Factor Authentication?
The Two-Factor Authentication allows you to require the use of an authenticator to access the account with your login credentials. Once you have configured your authentication software to Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM), you can log in with your email and password. Then, a text box displays a code request from the authentication application. You enter the code and access is granted to the website.
Setup
To set up Two-Factor Authentication:
- Select Settings > Two-Factor Authentication from the navigation bar in LBM along the left side of the screen.
- Select Set up Two-Factor Login. We recommend you use the Google Authenticator, so we offer download options from Google Play and the App Store.
- After installation, the application needs to be configured to work with Lighthouse. Open the authenticator and select the red plus sign to either "Scan a barcode" or "Enter a provided key." Below are the screens you encounter.
- The account name can be customized, or it auto-populates with Shift4 (Lighthouse).
- The next step is in Lighthouse. Select Next at the bottom of the application download page.
- This page displays the QR code you can scan with your phone or tablet.
You can also manually enter the code listed below the QR code. - Once that information is added to the authenticator app, a six-digit code appears. This code must be added to the "Enter 6-digit code" section on Lighthouse.
- Select Verify Code once the code has been added.
- If you lose access to your authenticator, you can use a recovery key to access the account without it. Recovery keys are one-time use codes. There are downloading options so these keys are kept safe.
- Select Finish once this is completed. This brings you to the login screen.
Usage
After setting up the two-factor authentication, enter your email and password as normal.
- Select Sign in. Have your authenticator ready, as you will need it at this point.
- Enter the code from your authenticator and select Submit. If you do not have the authenticator, you can use one of the recovery keys.
- Select Use Recovery Key from the login screen.
- If you cannot log in at all, please contact Support.
