Menu Viewer Overview
The Menu Viewer is a remote access tool that mirrors the live POS Terminal interface directly onto a desktop. It allows users to navigate the current menu layout, menu configurations, and pricing in real time, exactly as staff sees it on-site, without requiring physical presence at the location.
The menu view is limited compared to the POS Terminal interface and does not include a ticket order interface. This feature allows view-only access to the POS interface, including Departments, Items, Nested Modifier Sets, Modifier Sets, and Modifiers; it does not support direct menu configuration. For more information on how to configure the menu in Lighthouse Business Manager, refer to the SkyTab Settings in Lighthouse Business Manager for SkyTab POS article.
Access Menu Viewer in Lighthouse Business Manager
To access the Menu Viewer:
- Navigate to LBM > SkyTab Settings > Menu > Items
- Select View Menu at the top right of the screen.
Menu Viewer Functionality
To browse menu departments, use the up and down arrows in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Active Departments are shown with a white background.
Inactive Departments are shown with a gray background with an orange circle.
To view items assigned to the department, select the desired department from the left menu.
Once the item is selected, the menu viewer will display modifier sets assigned to the item (if configured).
If more than three modifier sets are assigned to the item, select Pages at the bottom of the screen or the right side arrow.
Detailed Menu Item Configuration Settings View
When an item is selected, the item's modifiers will display.
Use the arrow icon at the top of the screen to display additional information, such as the revenue class, taxes, and printers.
To return to the department list, select the arrow on the left.
Detailed Modifier Set Configuration Settings View
The same detailed view is accessible for modifier sets. Use the right arrow icon on the top left of the screen and select the modifier. Additional configuration settings are available, such as whether the modifier set is required, minimum and maximum modifier selection per modifier set, minimum and maximum modifier quantity per modifier set, if modifier prints in red and bold, and the default modifier price.
Other Settings
Under Other Settings, administrators will see a centralized view of the rules governing taxes and hardware routing. Other Settings can be accessed using the button at the top corner of the screen.
Note: The configurations in this section are read-only within the Menu Viewer.
On the Other Settings page, four tabs appear: Taxes, Revenue Classes, Tags, and Printers. Let's take a look at each tab.
Taxes
All active tax rules, such as standard sales tax, alcohol-specific taxes, or service gratuities, are displayed. Users can verify whether a tax is a percentage or a flat fee, and identify any hidden taxes included in the menu price.
Revenue Classes
Revenue Classes categorize your sales for cleaner financial reporting (e.g., separating "Beer" from "Food"). This tab shows which tax rules are linked to specific categories and identifies which classes are flagged as All Liquor or Non-Sale Revenue for accounting purposes.
Tags
Tags are organizational labels used to group items for functional purposes, such as "Happy Hour" or "Pool Bar". View which tags are available for menu items to help streamline the user interface.
Printers
This tab manages your hardware output, listing physical receipt printers, kitchen printers, and SkyTab KDS. It provides a snapshot of each device’s name, its primary function (receipts or tickets), and its connection type.
