Description: Learn how to configure Universal Transaction Gateway (UTG) for Dynamics 365 for the configuration of the Shift4 Payment Connector.
- Download and install UTG onto the workstation that you will be running the POS application from. Do not run UTG from the VM.
- Once UTG has been installed, configure the Express tab for UAT/Test environment.
- Locate the Address setting.
- Select the appropriate environment.
- Configure the Identity fields with the appropriate values:

- Serial & Slot: Provided in your UTG Configuration sheet

Host Address: The IP Address of the machine hosting UTG
- For per-station UTG: Set this to loopback (127.0.0.1)
- For server-based UTG: IP address of the machine (preferably static)

Location: Business Zip code

- Navigate to the API Interface tab and create one for REST.
- Leave the Task Description as REST
- Chose the desired IP address for this API interface
- Set the port to 277
- Select Generate Certificate and create a cert using the steps below.
- Friendly/Common Name: DBA name from the UTG Configuration Sheet
- Organization: Restaurant name with location if multiples
- Email Address: Sites main contact email (Owner, GM, etc.…)
- Locality: City
- State/Province: State (abbreviated)
- Country: US
- IP Tab: Enter the IP Address of the local machine that you have set in the REST API Interface
- Cert Gen Options: 'Self Signed'
- Cert Type: CRT
- Server Authentication: Enabled
- Client Authentication: Enabled
- Key Size: 4096 bit
- EmbedKey **make sure this is unchecked**
- Enter a password (make sure you keep this somewhere safe for your records).
- Select Generate and save it somewhere you can easily access.
- The Cert will complete generating once it says SUCCESS; at this point, close the Cert generator window to return to the REST API Interface screen.
- Add the Certificate file and Private Key file you created from the Cert Generator and enter the password.
- Locate the Cert file that you saved from UTG and double-click on it to install it.
- Select Local Machine.
- Select the option to "Place all certificates in the following store."
- Select Browse and select Trusted Root Certification Authorities, then select Ok.
- Once done, select Next, then Finish.
- Back to UTG, from the Devices tab, configure the payment device as instructed in the Installation & Configuration Guide and make the API TID a unique number that you will use as the EFT POS Register number later on.
- If using tips, ensure that the device supports the tip amount. To activate tipping, open the UTG Tune Up application and enable the tip feature on the device.
