Description: Printer groups are essential for organizing and controlling print jobs in your POS system. Depending on the version you're using, there are differences in how filters are applied and how printers are assigned to groups.
Ensure you choose the correct version; these instructions are important:
For v1.88 Only
In versions up to 1.88 only, Printer Groups require that any filter used (Order Types/Jobs/Stations) includes all printers to which the filter(s) are ALLOWED to print, including kitchen printers.
For example, let's say you have an INSIDE BAR printer and don't want tickets for the job type of 'Bartender' to print to it. Here's how to set it up:
- Create a Printer Group with the name of your choice. For this example, we'll use Bartender.
- For the Assigned Printers, include every printer where 'Bartender' tickets should print, like Expo, Grill, and Fry. However, leave out the Inside Bar printer from this group. Refer to the Assign Printers to a Group section for additional instructions.
- For 'Filter by' Jobs, choose the Job that can print to these printers. For this example, we'll select Bartender.
- Tap Save.
For v1.89+
For versions 1.89 and above, applied filters now function as exclusion rules. This means that only print jobs that match specific filters for Order Types/Jobs/Stations are allowed to be sent to the printers within a Printer Group.
For example, continuing with the example of the INSIDE BAR printer where we don't want tickets for the job type of 'Bartender' to print to it:
- Create a Printer Group with the name of your choice. For this example, we'll use 1.89 Inside Bar Printer.
- For the Assigned Printers, add Inside Bar. Refer to the Assign Printers to a Group section for additional instructions.
- For 'Filter by' Jobs, choose only the Jobs that can print to this printer. For this example, we'll select Server and Cocktail (not Bartender).
- Tap Save.
Adjusting Configuration from 1.88
If you're transitioning from v1.88 to v1.89+, adjustments may be needed:
- Adjust Filters: Under the 'Filter by' section, include only the Order Types/Jobs/Stations that should be allowed to print to the assigned printers.
- Adjust Assigned Printers: Match printers with the assigned Order Types/Jobs/Stations that should be allowed to print to them.
