Close the Commerce Engine Application

Description: Learn how to close the Commerce Engine app. This is useful if you need to access your device settings, use other apps, or restart Commerce Engine.

Commerce Engine sets the device into a kiosk mode, with Commerce Engine running in the foreground, and all controls to minimize the application are disabled. This prevents users from accessing the settings on the device or launching other applications. Commerce Engine has a secret menu that allows you to close the application in case you need to access device settings, other applications or if you just need to restart Commerce Engine.

To close the Commerce Engine application:

1. Verify the device is running Commerce Engine 2.6.0 or later. 
   • If you are running a previous version of Commerce Engine, the secret menu option is not available, and you will need to reboot the device instead.
2. Tap the top right corner of the screen below the Android Status Bar 5 times quickly.
   
3. This will bring up the Passcode screen.
   
4. Enter today's date in YYYYMMDD format and select Continue.
   
5. A "Password is Incorrect" error message displays if you enter an incorrect passcode.
   
6. If you entered the passcode correctly the Commerce Engine application will close and you will be brought to the desktop.
