Setup
Navigate to Manager > Settings > Accounting > Gratuities where you can create a new gratuity by selecting the Add New Gratuity button. Afterward, you need to enter:
- Gratuity Name: Specifying the amount in the name helps you to navigate between multiple gratuity records when adding them to an order.
- Amount: Percentage or flat amount

Name Printed on Receipt: Specifying a name here changes the name on the receipts from “gratuity” to whatever name you write.

Note: If this is left blank, the receipt will simply say “Gratuity.”

- Revenue Class: Selecting Non-Sales Revenue or creating a separate Gratuity Revenue Class is recommended.
- Apply automatically when guest count is: Number of guests needed for gratuity to apply automatically.
Note: Gratuity taxing is not supported at the moment, so even if the assigned revenue class had a tax assigned - the tax would be not calculated from the gratuity amount.
Permissions
For users to have the ability to add gratuity, the correct permissions have to be added. Navigate to Manager > Settings > Users > Employees. Select the employee and ensure Allow manual gratuity and Allow remove gratuity are moved to the Allowed Permissions section under the Permissions field.
Adding and Removing Gratuity
Apply Gratuity Manually
Once you Create a Ticket, the gratuities button can be found at the bottom of the ticket summary screen.
- Select Gratuities to open a new window that displays all active gratuities.
- Select the desired gratuity from the list.
- Select OK to commit the changes.
In order to remove gratuity from the order, follow the same steps, except this time, deselect the added gratuity.
Apply Gratuity Automatically
Create a ticket, then start adding guests. As soon as the number of guests reaches a predefined guest count, a gratuity will be automatically applied.
Alternatively, you can start creating a ticket from Host Mode and specify the amount of guests there.
Reconciliation
After completing the transaction, the Gratuity amount prints on the receipt.
- Users can see how much gratuity they have accumulated by going to their Personal Page and selecting View Shift Report.
- Managers can view gratuity totals by navigating to Manager > Activity > Tills and viewing the report on the right or by pressing print to get a hard copy.
