Description: This article will walk you through the difference between optional and required updates on the SkyTab POS system.
Before Performing an Optional Update
Ensure that all stations are syncing with each other. Follow the Sync Troubleshooting guide for detailed steps.
Important: Please review When NOT to Clear Data before proceeding. If any of the mentioned issues are present, attempt to resolve them first before clearing data. Any concerns, please contact SkyTab POS KCC or a member of Management.
Prompt for an Update
- Press the power button once, the screen will go dark and go into “sleep mode.”
- Press the power button again, and the screen will come back online.
- The update will display on the login screen at this time.
Note: If the update is not prompting, follow this article with the correct APK, available here. If not available there, contact a KCC or your supervisor.
Optional Update
The new software version of SkyTab POS is always released as an optional update that would allow users to skip it if they choose to. This is done to prevent interference for merchants during peak times. At this time, SKIP FOR NOW will be available.
If the merchant would like to update their system, they should select Download and Install.
Required Update
The update will be made required a few days after the optional release, this is done to ensure all systems are on the most current build. At this time, SKIP FOR NOW will be grayed out, and the update will be required in order for merchants to continue using POS.
Select Download and Install to complete the required update.
