Taxes

In LBM, navigate to SkyTab Settings > Accounting.

From the Accounting dropdown, select Taxes. Select the Add Tax button in the upper right corner to add a new tax or select a tax from the list to edit.

The options are as follows:
- Name: The name of the tax
- Amount: Can either be a dollar amount or percentage; the text box will contain the value
- Inclusive Tax: This means that the tax is already included in the listed price of an item. This is used if you need to add a hidden tax.
- Print Separate from Tax Total: This will print the tax amount as a separate line item on guest checks and receipts.
- Under Taxes applies to, you can apply taxes to individual items. However, in most cases, tax application on items will be managed through the Revenue Classes tab. Use the "+" to select Items the tax applies to and then select Save.
- Filter tax by order type: This tax will only apply to the selected order types. If none are selected, it will apply to all order types. Use the "+" to select the order type(s) and select Save.

When ticket is all liquor (must have an item with a liquor revenue class assigned):
- Do not apply tax: Toggle to enable or disable
- Hide tax from ticket: Toggle to enable or disable
- Select Save to save changes.
Delete or Remove Taxes
Note: SkyTab POS software is not capable of deleting or removing taxes from the menu once they are added to the POS system. The only way to remove or delete taxes from the menu is to make them inactive.
To deactivate the tax in Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM), proceed with the following steps:
- Navigate to the SkyTab Settings > Accounting > Taxes.

Select the tax that needs to be deactivated from the left side menu by pressing on it.
- Use the search bar at the top middle to find the tax that needs to be deactivated.
- On the Edit Tax screen, slide the Active toggle OFF on the top middle of the screen.

Press the blue Save button at the bottom right corner.
Surcharges
From the Accounting dropdown, select Surcharges.
The Surcharges section has the Add Surcharge button on the top right of the screen to add a new Surcharge. To edit the Surcharge, you would need to press on the Surcharge that you want to edit. The options are as follows:
- Name: The name of the Surcharge Fee
- Type: Sets Surcharge as Flat ($) or Percentage (%) amount
- Amount: Text box will contain the value of the Surcharge
- Use gross instead of net: Toggle on or off

Surcharge applies to: This can be either an order type or a menu item. Either option will offer a drop-down with available options.
- If you apply a surcharge to an order type, select both the type and revenue class that the surcharge will apply to.
- Select Save to save changes.

To deactivate the surcharge in Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM), proceed with the following steps:
- Navigate to the SkyTab Settings > Accounting > Surcharges.

Select the surcharge that needs to be deactivated from the left side menu by pressing on it.
- Use the search bar at the top middle to find the surcharge that needs to be deactivated.
- On the Edit Surcharge screen, slide the Active toggle OFF on the top middle of the screen.

Press the blue Save button at the bottom right corner.
Revenue Classes
From the Accounting dropdown, select Revenue Classes. Select the Add Revenue Class button in the upper right corner to add a new Revenue Class or select and existing Revenue Class to edit.
The options are as follows:
- Name: The name of the revenue class
- Class is all liquor: Toggle to enable or disable
- Item counts as non-Sales revenue: Toggle to enable or disable
The Assign Taxes option provides a dropdown to select which tax types to move into the revenue class. Revenue classes are assigned to items in the Menu section of LBM.
Select Save to save changes.
Delete or Remove Revenue Classes

To deactivate the revenue class in Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM), proceed with the following steps:
- Navigate to the SkyTab Settings > Accounting > Revenue Classes.

Select the revenue class that needs to be deactivated from the left side menu by pressing on it.
- Use the search bar at the top middle to find the revenue class that needs to be deactivated.
- On the Edit Revenue Class screen, slide the Active toggle OFF on the top middle of the screen.
- Press the blue Save button at the bottom right corner.
Gratuities
From the Accounting dropdown, select Gratuities. Select the Add Gratuity button in the upper right corner to add a new gratuity or select an existing gratuity to edit.
The options are as follows:
- Name: The name of the gratuity
- Amount: This can either be a dollar amount or a percentage. The text box will contain the value.
- Revenue Class: Revenue Class to which gratuity is assigned to.
Apply automatically when guest count is an option that applies gratuity automatically to the ticket when the guest count reaches a set amount.
Filter gratuity by order type applies the gratuity settings based on the type of order being processed. Use the "+" to select the order type(s) and select Save.
Select Save again to save changes.

To deactivate the gratuity in Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM), proceed with the following steps:
- Navigate to the SkyTab Settings > Accounting > Gratuities.

Select the gratuity that needs to be deactivated from the left side menu by pressing on it.
- Use the search bar at the top middle to find the gratuity that needs to be deactivated.
- On the Edit Gratuity screen, slide the Active toggle OFF on the top middle of the screen.

Press the blue Save button at the bottom right corner.
