Note: As a best practice, creating or editing Display Groups should be performed outside of business hours or during non-peak times, when the POS is not actively being used for order entry or ticket creation.
Set Up Display Groups in Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM)
Display Groups allow merchants to organize menu items in SkyTab POS, making order entry faster and more intuitive. Menu items can belong to multiple Groups simultaneously.
Note: Display Groups do not replace Departments. You can still use Departments alongside Groups.
Log in and Access Display Groups
Note: Groups can only be configured in LBM. They are not editable on SkyTab POS.
- Log in to LBM.
- Navigate to SkyTab Settings > Menu > Display Groups. This screen displays your existing Groups.

Create a new Display Group
- Select Add Display Group.
- Enter a Group Name.
- Select Manage Items to assign menu items to the Group.
Note: If the Group will be a parent group and only contain Subgroups, skip assigning items and select Save.
Create a New Subgroup
- Select Add Display Group.
- Enter a Subgroup Name.
- Choose a Parent Group from the dropdown (only top-level Groups can be selected; subgroups are not eligible).
- Assign items to your Group/Subgroup using Manage Items.
- Use the Department filter to narrow down items.
- Select the items you want to assign.
- Select Save when finished.
- Reorder the items on the Add New Display Group window if needed:
- Drag and drop them using the reorder icon (2 horizontal lines).
- Remove items (unassigns the item from the group) by selecting the X to the right of each item.
- Drag and drop them using the reorder icon (2 horizontal lines).
- Select Save to finalize your group or subgroup.
- Repeat the steps above with any additional Groups you’d like to create.
Reorder Groups
- Select Edit Display Group Order.
- To reorder Groups:
- Drag and drop Groups using the reorder icon (2 horizontal lines).
- Select Save.
- Drag and drop Groups using the reorder icon (2 horizontal lines).
- To reorder Subgroups:
- Select a Parent Group from the Parent Display Groups dropdown.
- Drag and drop Subgroups into the desired order using the reorder icon (2 horizontal lines).
- Select Save.
- Select a Parent Group from the Parent Display Groups dropdown.
Edit an Existing Display Group or Subgroup
- Select the Display Group or Subgroup you wish to edit.
- Make required edits (rename, manage items, etc.).
- Select Save to apply your changes.
