Description: Learn how to set up and manage revenue classes on Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM) and how these settings control the calculation of gratuities, item sales revenue, and reporting totals.
Note: You can also configure revenue classes directly on SkyTab POS. Visit the Configure Revenue Classes on SkyTab POS for details.
Overview
Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM) allows you to define and manage revenue class settings that determine how sales and gratuities are calculated and reported across all linked SkyTab POS terminals.
Instead of relying on a single global configuration, LBM calculates gross and net sales based on each revenue class setup. This gives you granular control over how sales are categorized and how gratuities impact revenue reporting essential for businesses operating across multiple locations or regions.
Revenue class settings determine:
- Whether gratuities are included in sales totals
- How item sales are classified in reports
- How revenue is tracked for accurate financial and comparative reporting
By customizing revenue classes, you can align your financial reporting with your operational structure, ensuring more precise oversight and consistency across all locations.
How to Set Up Revenue Classes
- Log in to LBM.
- Navigate to SkyTab Settings > Accounting > Revenue Classes.
- Select Add Revenue Class or select an existing Revenue Class to edit.

What Changed in Report Calculations?
- Inclusion of Gratuities in Net/Gross Sales
Before: Gratuities were not included in net/gross sales calculations in reports.
After: Gratuities are now included in net/gross sales, but only if they do not belong to a Revenue Class marked as “Non Sales Revenue”. - Exclusion of Non-Sales Revenue Items
Before: All items, surcharges were included in net/gross sales, regardless of their revenue class.
After: Any items, surcharges, or gratuities assigned to a Revenue Class with "Is Non Sales Revenue" set to true are excluded from net/gross sales. Non-sales revenue amounts are shown in a separate section in the Financial Overview report called "Non Sales Revenue".
