Description: Learn what Preparation Items are, what they control in a restaurant environment, and how to create them in Multi-Location Management.
Preparable Item Overview
Preparable Items allows you to connect menu items and modifiers to custom “prep items” that appear in the Kitchen Display System (KDS) All Day View. This gives the kitchen an at-a-glance count of how many of each ingredient or product they need to prepare across all the tickets in their view. For example, every burger can be linked to a “burger patty” prep item. When burgers are sent to the kitchen, they automatically contribute to the total count for “burger patty” in the All Day View. This allows the grill cook to immediately see that they need to prepare, for instance, 20 patties without scanning individual tickets.
Create a Preparable Item
- Navigate to SkyTab Settings > Kitchen > Prep Items.
- Select + Add Prep Item.
- Enter a Prep Item name.
- Select + Manage Items or + Manage Modifiers, depending on your needs. You may either select the checkbox to add the ingredient to all items in a department, or expand the department and select items individually.
- Select Apply.
