Description: Learn how to install and connect the TP-Link router for SkyTab POS.
Network Topology Overview
Routers can have anywhere from one to eight Local Area Network (LAN) ports. Ethernet cables are used to connect these ports on the router to other network devices, such as Point of Sale (POS) systems. A router is needed for a direct and secure connection between devices within a network.

Connect the Router
- Plug the power cable into the power port on the back of the TP-Link router.
- Connect the other end of the power cable to a wall outlet.
- Using one of the provided Ethernet cables, connect the TP-Link router to your modem or existing router by plugging the cable into the Wide Area Network (WAN) port (first port from the left) on the TP-Link router.
- Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into a LAN port on your modem or existing router.
- After connecting the router to the POS, you can verify that the system has received the correct IP address. On the SkyTab POS, navigate to Manager > Settings > Hardware. The following values should appear as follows:
- Connection Type: Ethernet
- IP Address: 192.168.213.XXX (The last three numbers may differ)
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.213.1
- DNS: 192.168.213.1
Note: The remaining LAN and WAN/LAN ports on the router are used to connect Ethernet cables that lead to Shift4 devices such as POS stations, kitchen printers, etc.
