Description: Learn how to use Marketing QR Codes on printed receipts to drive guest engagement, promote offers, and collect feedback on SkyTab POS.
Marketing QR Codes allow you to print a QR code on guest checks and receipts that links to a website of your choice, such as a loyalty sign-up page, feedback survey, or promotion. This feature provides an easy way to share information with guests using printed receipts.
Availability & Requirements
- POS Compatibility: SkyTab POS software version 1.123.x or higher
- Receipt Type: Printed (paper) receipts only
Marketing QR Codes do not appear on digital or emailed receipts.
How Marketing QR Codes Work
When configured, a QR code prints automatically on:
- Pre-payment guest checks
- Final printed receipts
Guests can scan the code using their smartphone camera to open the linked webpage. The URL can be updated at any time without changing printer settings.
How to Configure a QR Marketing Code
You can configure the Marketing QR Code in Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM):
- Log in to LBM.
- Navigate to Devices > Printers.
- Scroll to the Marketing QR Code section.
- QR Code URL:
- Enter the full destination URL (for example: https://www.yourrestaurant.com/specials)
- If this field is blank or the URL is invalid, the QR code will not print.
- QR Info (Optional):
- Enter a short message to display above the QR code.
- Maximum of 30 characters
- This message only prints when a valid URL is provided.
- Select Save Changes.
Where the QR Code Prints
The placement of the Marketing QR Code depends on your QR Pay configuration:
- QR Pay Enabled: The Marketing QR Code prints directly below the QR Pay code.
- QR Pay Disabled: The Marketing QR Code and optional message are printed in the standard receipt footer.
This placement ensures QR Pay remains the primary focus when enabled.
Notes and Limitations
- Marketing QR Codes are printed only on physical paper receipts.
- QR codes will not appear if the URL field is blank or invalid.
Best Practices for Success
- Update as Needed: You can change the QR code URL at any time to point to new content.
- Test After Setup: Print a guest check and scan the QR code to confirm it opens the correct page.
- Keep Messages Short: Use the optional message to briefly explain what the QR code links to, such as “Rate Your Visit” or “Join Our Rewards.”
