Set up Default Tablet Printer by Employee

Description: Learn how to set up a receipt printer for your Tablet by an employee.

Note: Required min version 1.79.1. Contact Shift4 Support if you are on a lower version.

This setup can use IP or USB. This improves the ability to utilize Tablet across a site by directing printing to existing USB printers and simplifies printer configuration (by eliminating the need to set up a specific IP printer for each Tablet if all users have a Default Tablet Printer set).

Notes:

• Shift4 Tablet requires a local POS WiFi network. 
• You may need manager permissions to complete the setup. 
• It can be combined with the default printer by device setup to allow the Tablet to still print if no Default Printer is set at the employee level.

How to Configure from the Workstation:

1. Navigate to Manager > Settings > Users > Employees.
2. Select the employee you wish to set this for.
3. Select the dropdown for Default Tablet Printer (or Default Tableside Printer if configuring from a Workstation).
4. Choose a printer from the list.
5. This employee will now send all printed receipts to the selected printer by default when using ANY Shift4 Dine device.
   

How to Configure from Shift4 Dine Customer Hub:

1. Sign in to Shift4 Dine Customer Hub.
2. Navigate to Workforce > Employees.
3. Select the employee you wish to set this for.
4. Select the dropdown for Tableside Printer. 
5. Choose a printer from the list. 
6. This employee will now send all printed receipts to the selected printer by default when using ANY Shift4 Tablet device.
   

Note: On the Tablet, this setting will show as Default Tablet Printer. On Workstations / Shift4 Dine Customer Hub, this will show as Default Tableside Printer.
