Pair a Star SM-S230i Printer With Android Tablet for Appetize

1. Tablet Bluetooth Settings

1. Navigate to the Bluetooth settings on the tablet.
2. Disconnect and forget the printer if it was previously paired with the tablet.
3. Turn off Bluetooth on the tablet.
4. Make sure Activate is not running on the device. 

2. Switching Emulation to StarPRNT

1. Make sure the printer is powered ON.
2. To toggle the emulation, open the paper tray and leave it open.
3. Locate the power and feed buttons on the printer.
4. With the paper tray still open, press and hold both buttons.
5. Continue holding the two buttons until the red flashing light stops.
6. Release the buttons and close the paper tray.
7. A small receipt is printed that is labeled EMU = ESC/POS or EMU = StarPRNT.
   • If it prints EMU = StarPRNT, move on to section 3.
   • If not, follow the steps above to toggle the emulation value.

3. Connect the Printer to the Tablet

Now that emulation is set to StarPRNT, the printer can be paired with the tablet.

1. Navigate to the Bluetooth settings on the tablet.
2. Turn on Bluetooth.
3. Turn on the Printer.
4. Look for a Star Micronics device to connect in the Tablet Bluetooth settings.
5. Enter the PIN 1234 if prompted.
6. Once the device pairs successfully, launch Activate.
