Description: Learn how to set up and configure gratuities on SkyTab POS, including setting percentage or flat amounts, automatic guest-count triggers, and required permissions.
Configure Gratuities
- Log in to SkyTab POS.
- Navigate to Manager > Settings > Accounting > Gratuities.
- Select Add New Gratuity.
Enter the following details:
Gratuity Name: Enter a descriptive name. Including the percentage or amount in the name makes it easier to identify when applying it to a ticket.
Amount: Choose either a percentage or a flat amount.
Name Printed on Receipt: Enter the name that should appear on the customer receipt.
Note: If this is left blank, the receipt will simply say “Gratuity.”

Revenue Class: Select Non-Sales Revenue or create a separate Gratuity Revenue Class (recommended).
Apply automatically when guest count is: Enter the number of guests required for the gratuity to automatically apply to a ticket. When enabled, the gratuity will automatically apply once the guest count meets or exceeds this number.
Filter Automatic Gratuity by Order Type (Optional): Use this setting to limit which order types the automatic gratuity applies to.
To configure:
- Tap the field to edit.
- Select one or more Order Types.
- Tap Save to apply changes.
Behavior:
- If one or more order types are selected, automatic gratuity will apply only to those order types.
- If no order types are selected, the filter is not used, and automatic gratuity will apply to all order types when the guest count threshold is met.
- This setting affects automatic gratuity only. Users can still manually apply gratuity from the POS if permissions allow.
Notes:
- Gratuity taxing is not currently supported. Even if the selected revenue class has tax assigned, tax will not be calculated on gratuity amounts.
- Open gratuity configuration is not supported. Only predefined percentages or flat amounts can be configured.

Permissions
To allow employees to apply or remove gratuity:
- Navigate to Manager > Settings > Users > Employees.
- Select the employee.
- Move the following permissions into the Allowed Permissions section:
- Allow Manual Gratuity
- Allow Remove Gratuity
