Description: Learn how to set up surcharges on SkyTab POS, either for entire order types or specific items, and how they display on orders and report in Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM).
Access Accounting and Set up Revenue Class
- Log in to SkyTab POS.
- Navigate to Manager > Settings > Accounting.
- On the Revenue Class tab, select Add New Revenue Class.
- Enter a name that fits your reconciliation needs (for example, “Delivery).
- Assign the appropriate tax.
- Select Save.
Notes:
- Revenue Class ensures surcharges are taxed correctly based on the full order amount.
- If the surcharge should not be taxed or categorized with other sales, set the Revenue Class as Non-Sales Revenue. Non-Sales Revenue is money earned from a charge rather than from selling an actual product.
Create a Surcharge
- Navigate to the Surcharges tab.
- Select Add New Surcharge.
- Complete the required fields:
- Name: Displays on the Order Entry screen as well as in Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM) reporting.
- Apply Surcharge to Order Type: Select the default order type that triggers the surcharge.
- Assign Items: Assign the items the surcharge should apply to.
- Revenue Class: Select the appropriate Revenue Class.
- Amount: Enter the percentage or flat fee applied to the order.
Note: A surcharge can be configured either by Order Type and Revenue Class or by assigning specific items, but not both at once. If you switch between these options, the system prompts you to remove the existing configuration.
How Surcharges Display

- Displays as a separate line item at the bottom of the order entry screen, below the subtotal and before the total.
- Prints the same way on receipts.
Surcharge by Item
- Automatically applies when an assigned item is added to the order.
- Displays directly under the assigned item in the order entry screen.
- Included in the subtotal.
