Important: For Mozart, a Firewall Exception may need to be made for http://bootstrap.mozart.shift4payments.com/ to get the Shift4 Duo devices to work correctly.
Please refer to the Customer Site Readiness Guide for additional details regarding port numbers, IP addresses, and network configuration.
Network Requirements
The wireless requirement for a Shift4 Duo device is simple:
- Steady Internet Connection
- 5mbps Upload
- 5mbps Download
Shift4 Duo supports the Wifi network type 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4GHz, 802.11ac b/g/n, 5GHz.
The bandwidth requirement is minimal, and normal operation can function with no impact with as little as a 64k connection. However, with the apps being about 10 to 20 megabytes (MB) each, there may be some impact on the bandwidth when the app needs to be updated.
Required Ports
Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to ensure they are not blocking any of the ports on your side.
Internal:
The following ports are needed for various purposes:
- Port 123 and IP Address time.google.com are needed for terminals to call out to Google's NTP server to keep accurate time and date.
- Port 7135 and Port 7136 are the ports that Mozart https://mq.mozart.shift4payments.com/ use to communicate locally with the on-site POS, so they need to be granted access on the merchant's Local Area Network (LAN).
- The outbound Port 5672, Port 26880, and Port 26881 are needed for processing.
- Need access to Port 9080 and Port 3000 for Shift4 Duo to be able to communicate with the PAXSTOR https://auth.paxstore.us/passport/login?client_id=admin&market=shift4
- Note: Ports 9080 and 3000 need to be outbound only.
- Our Gateway http://utg.shift4api.net/ uses Port 443 for processing and access to the Customer Hub https://lighthouse-api.harbortouch.com/
- Port 4000 is needed for the SNBC Network Printer.
IP Address
- Set the Wi-Fi router or Access Point to 192.168.213.2, which puts the Shift4 Network equipment on the same subnet. Both routers can be used to connect additional Shift4 devices.
- Disable the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server on the Wi-Fi router or Access Point to ensure that your existing TP-Link router still maintains the responsibility of issuing an IP address. This averts any possibilities of IP conflicts caused by two DHCP servers issuing the same IP addresses to different devices.
- Set Domain Name System (DNS) to 8.8.8.8.
Network Security
It is recommended not to use WPA3 with Shift4 Duo or other PAX devices.
