Overview
This article walks you through the initial installation and setup of your SkyTab Air handheld device. You’ll learn how to power on the device, connect it to your restaurant’s POS network, configure essential app permissions, and assign printers. By the end of setup, your device will be ready for use, with a personalized printer selection feature to streamline daily operations.
Installation and Setup
Important: The Air app is installed during step 3. It will not be available on the home screen until you follow these steps to completion.
1. Unbox and Power On the Device
- Press and hold the power button (right side, middle) for 3–5 seconds until you see the loading animation.
- Wait for the device to load to the home screen.
2. Connect to WiFi and Enable Cellular Backup
- Navigate to Android Settings. If prompted for a password, type in pax9876@@
- Go to Settings > Network & internet and connect to your SkyTab WiFi network (SSID and password provided by your installation team).
- Still in Network & internet, select Mobile Network and toggle the eSIM card to On. Allow 3–4 minutes for activation.
3. App Installation and Reboot
- After connecting to WiFi and enabling cellular backup, return to the home screen.
- The device will automatically install the required SkyTab POS apps and may reboot within 2–3 minutes.
- Once the device reboots, return to the home screen and open the SkyTab POS app (blue north star icon).
4. Allow App Permissions
When prompted, allow the following permissions:
- Allow SkyTab POS to record audio? Select While Using The App.
- Allow SkyTab POS to make and manage phone calls? Select Allow.
- Allow SkyTab POS to access photos and media on your device? Select Allow.
- Toggle on SkyTab POS to engage with "Do Not Disturb" access and select Allow on the pop-up window that displays.
- Toggle on "Allow modifying system settings."
- Select SkyTab POS as your default home app.
- Toggle on "Allow from this source" for SkyTab POS.
Once permissions are granted, you’ll be returned to the SkyTab POS login screen.
5. Assign Printer
- Log in to SkyTab POS.
- Assign the default printer (and optionally configure tips) for your Air device.
