Description: Learn how to install a PAX A35 or PAX Q25 PIN Pad on the Workstation for Shift4 Dine.
Note: After installing your PIN Pad, configure it in Shift4 Dine to ensure it is set up correctly.
Install the PAX A35
- Remove the two screws on the back of the PAX A35 PIN Pad and remove the back cover.
- Insert the USB Type-C cable into the PIN Pad.
- Replace the back cover and tighten the two screws securely.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to a USB port on the Workstation Accessory Hub.
Program the PAX A35
- On the Home screen, select the Settings/Menu icon.
Note: Additional settings are accessed by tapping each corner, starting from the top left and going clockwise. - Enter today’s date in MMDDYYYY format when prompted to enter a password, then select OK.
- Select Network & Internet > Ethernet.
- Ensure Ethernet is enabled or toggled on.
- Select Ethernet Configuration to display the network settings.
- Scroll to Configure Ethernet Device > Static.
- Enter the necessary IP information.
Note: IP Address: The first PIN Pad will be 192.168.213.220; the second one will be 221, and so on. - Select Save.
Install the PAX Q25
- Plug the power cable into a power outlet.
- Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the red dongle (A).

Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Accessory Hub (B).
Program the PAX Q25
- Plug the device into your network. Your PIN pad should download and reboot if it’s the first time it’s been connected to your network.
Note: If the PIN Pad does not download, proceed as follows. - Press Enter > System Settings > App Management > Activate > Online
- After activation, go back one screen to App Management > App update. The Q25 should download and reboot.
- Once rebooted, agree to the EULA Agreement.
- Press the Menu key.
- Enter today’s date in MMDDYYYY format when prompted to enter a password.
- Press Down Arrow (˅) at the Main Menu to advance to the next screen of options.
- Select COMM. Settings.
- Enter today’s date in MMDDYYYY as the password to continue.
- Press Down Arrow (˅) to reach the COMM OPTIONS screen.
- Select LAN Parameters > LAN Type > Static.
- Verify the following settings:
- IP Address: The first PIN Pad will be 192.168.213.220; the second one will be 221, and so on.

Gateway, Subnet mask, and DNS should already be set, but double-check:
- Gateway: 192.168.213.1
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- DNS: 192.168.213.1 and DNS2 8.8.8.8 respectively
