Overview
Use this guide if you’re setting up a weight scale for the first time with SkyTab POS. When selling items by weight, accuracy is more than just good business; it’s required to use a legal-for-trade scale. That’s why SkyTab POS works with National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) certified scales and has undergone its own certification process. Together, these certifications ensure every weighted transaction is accurate, compliant, and trustworthy.
NTEP certification ensures the scale you’re using has been tested to meet strict federal and state standards for fairness and accuracy in commerce. This protects:
- Your business: By keeping you compliant with regulations and avoiding fines or disputes.
- Your customers: By ensuring they only pay for the product itself, not packaging or misread weights.
- Your reputation: By showing that your business values transparency and trust.
