Manage Tip Hints on the Workstation for Shift4 Dine

Overview

Shift4 Dine POS includes a Tip Hints tab under Receipt Printers, consolidating settings previously split across the General and Advanced tabs.

• Global Tip Hints display the default settings configured in Shift4 Dine Customer Hub.
• Merchants can override these settings at the individual printer level.

Note: Before configuring Tip Hints on the POS, it is recommended to first set Global Tip Hints in the Customer Hub. Visit the Centralized Tip Configuration in Shift4 Dine Customer Hub article for instructions.

Tip Hints Tab and Settings

1. Navigate to Manager > Settings > Hardware> Printers/KDS.
2. Select the receipt printer.
3. Select the Tip Hints tab.
4. View current Global Tip Hints.
5. To override and customize Tip Hints for a specific printer, slide the Override Tip Hints toggle to enable it. You can then enter or edit the Tip Hints directly for that printer, allowing it to use a different configuration than the global default.
   
6. Select Save.

Notes

• Global Tip Hints require POS v1.120.0 or later.
• Receipt printers created after v1.120.0 automatically use Global Tip Hints.
• Receipt printers created before v1.120.0 retain existing settings and default to Override Tip Hints.
• Show Tip Hints must always be configured at the individual printer level; it cannot be set in the Customer Hub.
