Configure the CAS PD-II Scale for SkyTab POS

Note: If you haven’t yet connected your scale, install and connect it first before configuring it in the POS system.

Scale Integration

Three things must occur for the scale to communicate properly with the SkyTab L1400:

• Scale type must be set to TYPE-5
• The scale must be enabled within the SkyTab POS software

Setting the Scale Type

Plug the scale into an outlet or power strip using the A/C cable located in the box. Press and hold the # button on the scale, and flip the power switch on the side to ON. Release the # button once the scale screen lights up.

After a few moments, the scale will display its current type; if it does not display Type 5, it must be updated. Press the lb/oz button until the display reads Type 5, then press the ZERO key to set the ECR type. The scale will take a moment to configure before returning to 0.00.

Enable the Scale Within SkyTab POS

While logged in as a Manager in SkyTab POS:

1. Select Manager > Settings > Hardware.
2. Touch the slider next to Use Weight Scale so that it slides to the right and turns blue.
   
3. Select Save on the bottom right of the screen.

Configure Items for Scale Use

Each item using the scale to configure its price must be set up within the system’s menu.

1. Navigate to Manager > Settings > Menu > Items.
2. Search for the item using the scale by touching the magnifying glass and typing the item name into the field.
3. Once the item has been found, tap the Advanced tab and touch the slider beneath Item Sold By Weight so that it slides to the right and turns blue.
4. Do not place anything on the Scale. Touch Tare Weight and make sure it shows 0.00.
   1. If a tray, plate, basket, or other container will be used, place that item on the scale before weighing. The scale should register the weight of the container as the Tare Weight.
   2. Touch Tare Weight, and ensure the display resets to 0.00 with the container still on the scale.
5. Touch Save at the bottom right of the screen.
6. Go to the General tab and place the Price per Pound amount: Item Price, then select Save. 

These steps will need to be repeated for each item requiring a tare.

When ordering weighted items, a box will appear after the item is added to the ticket. This is when the item and its container should be placed on the scale and weighed.
