Before You Begin
To use this feature, QR Pay must be enabled for your location:
- In Shift4 Dine Customer Hub: Go to Marketplace > QR Pay to set up the integration.
- In Workstation Settings: Go to Business > Marketplace > QR Pay and verify that Enable QR Pay is active.
How to Take a QR Payment
- Navigate to the open ticket you wish to close and tap Pay.
- On the payment screen, tap QR Pay from the list of available tenders.
- The Handheld device will display:
- The total Balance Due.
- A unique, ticket-specific QR Code.
- A prompt instructing the guest to scan the code with their phone.
Note: Hold the device so the guest can easily scan the QR code using their smartphone camera.
- The guest’s device will open a secure checkout page where they can finalize payment using their preferred digital method, including cryptocurrency.
- Once the payment is completed, the Handheld will automatically sync the transaction. Tap Done to return to the Ticket Grid view.
Automatic Syncing Behavior
- Real-Time Updates: If the guest completes payment from the mobile page, the QR code screen on the Handheld will automatically close or update to reflect the payment status.
- Ticket Closure: When the full balance is paid through the QR link, the ticket will automatically close on both the Handheld and the Workstation.
Troubleshooting & Notes
- Partial Payments
If a ticket includes a prior payment (e.g., cash), the QR code will display only the remaining balance due. - "Ticket Not Found" Message
If a guest scans a QR code for a ticket that has already been fully paid, they will see a “Ticket is no longer found” message to prevent duplicate payments. - Printed QR Codes
If enabled, the QR code for payment can also be printed on the bottom of the guest check.
