Focus POS Comm Engine (REST Interface)

Description: Learn how Comm Engine functions as a REST-based payment processing interface that removes the need for UTG by enabling Focus to communicate directly with devices or the Gateway for transaction adjustments.

Comm Engine is the next generation for payment processing, as the interface removes the need for Universal Transaction Gateway, as Focus will communicate directly to the device or directly to the Gateway to adjust a previous transaction in any manner.  The interface is REST-based and will require IP devices to communicate transactions.

PAX A800/A930 with COMM Engine App installed

Configuration

1. Navigate to Global settings found in Misc > Credit/Gift/Loyalty/Customer.
2. Select the Credit Card tab.
   • Credit Type = Shift4
   • Merchant ID = <enter MID>
     
3. Select the Credit Card Direct tab.
   • IP Address = 127.0.0.1
   • Port = 8085
   • Interface = REST
   • Enter Authtoken from UTG Setup provided.
   • Enter ZIP Code.
4. Select Save.
5. The register will connect to the Gateway to register the Auth Token and receive the Access Token.
6. Select Save.
7. Select Close.

Please follow the device setup to set device IP's statically on the same network as POS Requires you to configure each station's EMV device.

1. Navigate to Locations > Stations.
2. Select the station in the left column to configure the terminal's reader.
   • EMV Options
     • EMV TYPE = Shift 4 Commerce Engine
     • IP Address = <Enter IP address of device>
     • Port = 8085
       
3. Select Save.
4. Repeat for each additional station.
5. Select Save.
6. Select Close.
7. Run a test transaction with your newly configured Comm Engine device.
