Description: Learn the different ways to start or stop the Universal Transaction Gateway (UTG) Stand Alone.
Internal:
Please utilize the Start or Stop UTG Stand Alone Epsilon3 Procedure.
Note: You can't open the UTG (v2) Stand Alone unless you have stopped the UTG Services. Stopping the Universal Transaction Gateway (UTG) Service stops all active credit card processing until it is either restarted or the UTG runs in Stand-Alone Mode.
Startup
From the Windows Desktop, navigate to Start > All Programs (Or All Apps) > Shift4 Payments (or Shift4 Corporation) > UTG (v2) Stand Alone.
Alt Method 1
From the Windows Desktop, navigate to Start > Run. Type c:\shift4\utg2\utg2.exe and select OK.
If you use another directory other than C:\ you can change this to your directory.
Alt Method 2
Go to the Stand Alone installation directory (C:\Shift4\UTG2) and double-click on UTG2.exe.
Shutdown(Preferred)
- From inside the UTG (v2) Stand Alone, select File > Exit.
-
When prompted with "Shut Down Shift4’s Universal Transaction Gateway Are you sure?" select Yes.
- (If Yes is grayed out, select Override).
- The UTG should close within 60 seconds.
Shutdown(When the Program is Stuck)
Note: If the UTG Stand Alone needs to be shut down quickly, you can force this by right-clicking on the Task Bar and selecting Task Manager, as seen below.
From here, a Task Manager window will appear. Right-click on the Shift4 Gateway (32-bit) line under the Apps section, and select End Task to force close the UTG Stand Alone.
