Description: Learn how to close pre-authorized tabs directly from the Customer-facing Display so guests can tip and pay without a paper slip.
Note: This feature is currently available only for Pilot users.
If a Workstation has a connected Customer Display, you can now close pre-auth tabs right at the display, with no extra setup required. This works automatically with your existing Pay on Display workflow.
Key Features
- Sends a pre-auth ticket to the Customer Display through the existing Pay on Display flow, so there are no new screens to learn.
- The guest sees the check total, selects a tip, and confirms on the Customer Display.
- Payment captures automatically once the guest confirms.
- Standard receipt options are available: text, email, print, or none.
Benefits
- Cuts paper slip closures at the bar and other high-speed tab environments.
- Removes the need for manual tip adjustment, since guests enter their own tip on the Customer Display.
- Speeds up tab turnover during rushes.
- Works with the Customer Display your Workstation already has, so there is nothing new to install or configure.
Close a Pre-Auth Tab on the Customer Display
- From the Workstation, open the pre-authorized ticket.
- Send the ticket to the Customer Display as you would for any Pay on Display transaction.
- The guest reviews their check total on the Customer Display.
- The guest selects a tip amount and taps Confirm.
- Payment captures automatically; no further action is needed at the Workstation.
- The guest chooses a receipt option: text, email, print, or none.
- The ticket closes, and the tab is complete.
Note: If the Customer Display disconnects at any point during this flow, the ticket returns to the Workstation and can be closed there as normal. No data is lost.
FAQs
Do I need to turn anything on for this?
No. If a bar or high-speed tab Workstation already has a Customer Display connected, pre-auth closure works out of the box.
Can I still close from the Workstation?
Yes. Staff can close a pre-auth tab from the Workstation at any time, even after sending it to the Customer Display.
Can a guest start a new tab by tapping their card on the Customer Display?
Not yet for most locations. That capability is being piloted at select locations and will roll out more broadly based on pilot results.
