Description: Learn how to use the tip pay out function on SkyTab POS. When SkyTab POS has been configured to disallow the automatic deduction of non-cash tips as part of the expected cash in a drawer or employee bank, you can pay out the tips in cash from the drawer by using this process.
Note: This procedure is only intended for use in locations where non-cash tips need to be manually paid from cash drawers. Do NOT use this process if you are not certain whether SkyTab POS has been configured to use manual tip payouts.
Before paying out tips, ensure the employee no longer has any open tickets or pending tip adjusts. Use the POS station attached to the cash drawer from which you will be paying non-cash tips.
To use the tip pay out function:
- While logged into the SkyTab POS station with the cash drawer from which you will pay out tips, press the Drawer button (located at the bottom of the screen on the Ticket Grid).
- Press the Tip Pay Out button on the Drawer dialog.
Note: If your system has not been configured to pay tips manually from the cash drawer, you will not see the Tip Pay Out button on the Drawer dialog. - Select an employee from the list on the left.
- Enter the amount of credit card tips only using the number pad.
- Add any additional information in the Comments field.
- Press OK when you have entered all of the necessary information.
- Review the information on the screen showing the drawer balance, then tap OK.
It is possible to have a drawer balance showing a negative number, as shown in the example. This means that you owe more credit card tips than you have cash in the drawer. - Repeat this process for each employee you owe tips to.
