Description: This process is for manually applying a discount to an item, usually in response to a customer complaint, and should not be used when your system has been configured to automatically discount an item based on when it is sold.

Note: Use Discounts permission is required to add an open discount to a ticket.
When you need to adjust the price of an item after it has been sent in response to a customer issue, you can use a discount on the specific item. Applying the discount to the item (as opposed to the entire ticket) puts the discount with the item on the receipt.
On the Orders tab, select the ticket containing the item you wish to discount.
Press Open Ticket or double-tap on the ticket to open it.
With the ticket open, tap on the item you need to discount, then tap the Discount button.
On the Discounts selection screen, select the discount you need to apply.
If you are using a pre-configured discount for your location (i.e., the "Free Drink" discount in the example above), select a Reason from the reasons list and press OK.
The discount is applied to the item, and you are finished.If you need to add an open discount to the item, continue to the next step.
Tap on the % or $ symbol to select the type of discount.
Use the number pad to enter an amount, such as the price of a modifier that you want to make free.
Important: Before applying the discount, make certain you have the correct type applied - you do not want to give a $50.00 discount when you intended to give a 50% off discount.Select a reason from the Reasons list. You can use the text field at the top to enter any additional notes about the discount reason.
Tap Ok when you are finished.
Check the ticket to verify that the discount is the correct amount. The example shows both a specific item discount (Free Drink) and an open discount.
You can remove a discount by pressing opening the ticket, selecting the discounted item, and tapping again on the highlighted discount on the screen.Once you've verified the discount, take the payment for the ticket as you normally would.
