Description: Follow this checklist to Re-Open POS systems for Appetize.
Pre-Season Preparation Recommendations
Maintenance (min of 2 weeks prior to opening):
- Replace terminals that have been moved to storage to their respective stands and in-seat areas (if mobile).
- Confirm network connectivity
- Perform a Firmware Update and Enterprise Reset.
- Logon & test general functionality (sales, discounts, returns - try all media)
- Make sure all peripherals are tested (printers, scanners, cash drawers, scales, etc.)
- Make sure all payment types are tested (have a CC and a stored value account handy)
- Refund all sales in order to zero reports out (for audit purposes)
- Review reports for accuracy and formatting
Training:
- An experienced Sys Op (local manager, supervisor, lead, etc.) should:
- Re-train cashiers how to ring sales, discounts, etc. (all the things you just tested)
- If using Inventory, review stand sheets with both ends (warehouse & stand leads)
- Review closing of Events and reconciliation with BOH financial/accounting folks
If Adding Integrations or planning to use new (or new to you) modules:
- Add a minimum of 2 weeks lead time to your testing and maintenance plan (4-5 weeks total)
- Do the general maintenance and testing first (minimizes chasing of false positives).
- Optional but highly recommended: Contract with professional services to install, configure, and train your staff.
- This is beneficial even if you’re simply adding the use of a new module (e.g. inventory, or restaurant mode, or kiosk)
- Eliminates delays explaining things to Support.
- Dedicates resources and prioritizes your configuration and training (vs. helpdesk who would be dealing with multiple customers and competing priorities)
- Gives time back to local System Operators to deal with other non-POS startup tasks and issues
- Safeguards customer/fan experience on opening day!!
- This is beneficial even if you’re simply adding the use of a new module (e.g. inventory, or restaurant mode, or kiosk)
Live Support:
- Book on-site support for opening day or any time it’s needed
- Highly recommended during the re-start of a season
- Subject to availability (book 6-8 weeks in advance - more if possible)
