Description: As venues welcome guests back, the type of payments available in Activate may need to be updated to abide by new guidelines. The Terminal Roles assigned to the Terminal accounts update the payment options. If the location uses an Employee Account instead of a Terminal account, the assigned Employee Role will need to be updated.
Disable Cash Payments
First, you must determine what Terminal Role is assigned to the Terminal Account.
- In Connect, log in under Accounts > Accounts > Terminal.
- Click on it twice in the account you want to check out. The User Role is the Terminal Role you will need to configure.
Follow the steps below to disable the Cash payment option:
- In Connect, select Options from the left-side menu.
- Select Terminal Roles from the Options menu.
- Search for and select the Terminal Role to edit.
- Click the Payment tab.
- Select the pencil icon [✏️] below Cash .
- Click No to disable Cash Payments.
If the location is using an Employee Account rather than a Terminal Account, follow the same steps to edit the assigned Employee Role.
- In Connect, select Options from the left-side menu.
- Select Employee Roles from the Options menu.
- Search for and select the Employee Role to edit.
- Click the Payment tab.
- Select the pencil icon [✏️] below Cash.
- Click No to disable Cash Payments.
Cash Drawer Assignments
If the account also used Cash Drawer assignments, those settings should be disabled on the Permissions Sets assigned to the Terminal or Employee Role.
Once you determine what Permissions Sets is assigned to the Terminal or Employee Role, follow the steps below to update Cash Drawer settings.
- In Connect, select Options from the left-side menu.
- Select Permissions Sets from the Options menu.
- Search for and select the Set to edit.
- Click the Cash Drawer tab.
- Toggle the settings below to No.
- Cash Drawer Assignment
- Requires Cash Drawer Assignment
- No Sale Assignment Required
- Block UI when cash drawer is open on Thank you screen
- Select Save.
Enable Contactless Payments
Once you determine what Terminal Role is assigned to the Activate login under Accounts > Terminal, follow the steps below to enable Contactless Credit Card payments.
- In Connect, select Options from the left-side menu.
- Select Terminal Roles from the Options menu.
- Search for and select the Terminal Role to edit.
- Click the Payment tab.
- Scroll down to the Contactless option.
- Select the pencil icon below to edit.
- Toggle the option to Yes.
If the location is using an Employee Account rather than a Terminal Account, follow the same steps to edit the assigned Employee Role.
- In Connect, select Options from the left-side menu.
- Select Employee Roles from the Options menu.
- Search for and select the Employee Role to edit.
- Click the Payment tab.
- Scroll down to the Contactless option.
- Select the pencil icon below to edit.
- Toggle the option to Yes.
Allow Gift Credit Card Payments
Venues may also offer an option for guests to purchase prepaid credit cards in exchange for cash payments (aka Reverse ATM Cards). The Terminal or Employee Role may need to be updated to allow those Gift Card payments.
Once you figure out what Terminal Role is assigned to the Activate login under Accounts > Terminal, please follow the steps below to allow Gift Cards.
- In Connect, select Options from the left-side menu.
- Select Terminal Roles from the Options menu.
- Search for and select the Terminal Role to edit.
- Click the Payment tab.
- Select the pencil icon below Block Gift Credit Cards.
- Toggle to No.
If the location is using an Employee Account rather than a Terminal Account, follow the same steps to edit the assigned Employee Role.
- In Connect, select Options from the left-side menu.
- Select Employee Roles from the Options menu.
- Search for and select the Employee Role to edit.
- Click the Payment tab.
- Select the pencil icon below Block Gift Credit Cards.
- Toggle to No.
