Description: You'll learn to create and manage item restrictions in Connect Enterprise, assign restrictions to venues, configure vendor roles, enable restrictions in permission sets, and apply restrictions to specific items based on age or external integration requirements.
Overview
Item restrictions are available to give the end-user the ability to restrict the sale of items and categories by age or external integration requirements. An example is if alcohol items are added to an order, this will prompt an age validation window before the execution of the sale.
Create Item Restriction
Select the Item Restrictions option from the Items subcategory in the Connect Enterprise dashboard.

Select the blue Create button to open the Add Restriction modal.
Note: All Fields in this menu are required to create an Item Restriction.

Type: Currently, there are two types of Restrictions to choose from, External and Age.
- External is used for 3rd party integrations.
- Age is used for an Age Restriction.
- Name: This field is used to identify the restriction you are creating

Value: This is equivalent to the age threshold needed to buy the item with the applied restriction
- Ex. enter 21 if a customer needs to be 21 years or older to buy the item being purchased.

Type: Currently, there are two types of Restrictions to choose from, External and Age.

Select the blue Save button in the bottom right corner.
Assign Venues
After creating, the Restriction needs to be assigned to the venue where it will be implemented.
- Select the Restriction that was just created.
- Navigate to the Assigned Venues tab.
- Select the blue Add Venue button to assign the venues.

Unassign venues from this menu by selecting the Unassign button.
Configure Vendor Roles
Once the restriction is applied to the venue, go to "Vendor Roles" to configure the vendor to prompt for the restriction once the item is selected to add to an order.
- From the Enterprise Dashboard, select Vendor Roles under Location.
- Search for and select the Vendor Role that needs to be updated.
- Select the Restrictions tab.
- Select the pencil icon to the right of "Prompt At Item."

Toggle to Yes and it will automatically save the changes.
Enable Restrictions on Permissions Sets
Once the Vendor role is configured to prompt for the restriction, the "Permissions Sets" assigned to the terminal role need to be updated.
- From the Enterprise Dashboard, select Permission Sets under Account.
- Search for and select the Permissions Sets that needs to be updated.

Select the Main View tab.
- "Show age verification" must be toggled to Yes.
- "Alert on Alcohol Item" must be toggled to Yes.
- "Show age verification for alcohol items" must be toggled to Yes.
- Select Save to finalize the changes.
Configure Restrictions on Items
To apply the restriction to an item, follow the steps below.
- Select Items on the dashboard under the Items section.
- Search for and select the item that needs a restriction.
- Select the Details tab.
- Select the pencil icon to the right of the "Age Restriction" field.

Select the restriction from the dropdown list, and it will automatically save the changes.
