Check Sync Prerequisites
- Check / Order sync will work for a single platform; only on Android or iOS devices. We currently do not support multi-platform sync between Android and iOS devices.
- Users who want to sync any checks/orders must be logged into Activate with the same account, operating for the same Vendor, connected through the same network.
- Devices must have the same version (that supports Check Syncing) of Activate Android / iOS installed on their devices
- Sync works for both POS and REST modes. Most frequently, it will be used in REST mode
- Checks created on one device are visible on another within the same Vendor and network.
- The check is visible only within the same account (the account where the check was created).
- Check / Order sync is available in two Activate modes: online & offline
Check Sync Operations
REGULAR ORDERS:
POS Online Orders - Flow
- Open Activate on the first device device using your account credentials.
- Add some items to the cart and choose the desired payment type. Order syncing will work for all payment types.
- Tap Next until the Thanks screen is shown.
- At the same time, the user who has the app opened on the second device (with the same account credentials) can see the order in All Orders tab that shows up for a second in Offline and then goes to Completed.
- In the case of regular Orders, there is no possibility of modification. You can only look them up on another device as Completed and Refund them.
Offline Orders - Flow
- Open Activate on the first device using your account credentials.
- If Offline mode = ON / Auto due to network issues, orders can still be created to be stored on the local terminal.
- When checking the status of this order on device no.2, it will not be shown as the WiFi connection is lost, and the devices can not communicate.
- Once the network is back and offline mode = OFF / Auto, the order on the first device goes to Completed simultaneously. The second device shows the flash of this order in Offline and then in Completed.
CHECK ORDERS:
- Open Activate on the first device using your account credentials.
- Add some items to the cart and choose 'Check' to open a new Check order.
- Open the check with your name, seat, or Credit Card.
- Log in to Activate on the second device using the same account.
- Open the left menu, go to All Orders, and then select the Opened Checks tab. The Check that was opened on the first device will be visible.
- Choose the check you want to edit and tap Add Tip / Close Order.
Return to Menu
Allows the user to return to the menu to add other items to the cart.
- Once items are added, tap the Check option again.
- Choose the Check that the items should be added to from the list Open Checks.
- Confirm the addition on the alert "Add an item to Tab?"
- From there, you can Return to Menu again, cancel the check, or close the check order.
Closeout Check
- Tap to Close the Check order.
- Confirm the alert "Are you sure you want to closeout check?"
- Choose the payment type and add your signature (if needed).
- Add Tip (if available) and tap Continue.
- Tapping YES changes the check status to Closed on both devices and redirects you to the main menu.
- Tapping NO cancels the action.
Cancel Check
- Tap to cancel the Check order.
- Confirm the alert "Are you sure you want to cancel check?"
- The check is then canceled and the transaction is notfinalized.
Print Order
- Tap to print the current check.
- No actions will be taken on the check.
Delete items from Check order
- Open the Check on the first device.
- Access the Check on the second device from the Check Orders or All Orders view, or tap the Check button on the main view.
- Navigate to Opened Checks or Offline checks.
- Tap to open the Check.
- Choose the Add Tip/Close Check button.
- Once the items are added to the cart, tap the red Delete button to get rid of any incorrect items added by the user on the first device.
Offline / Online mode sync
- Open the Check on the first device when Offline mode is one because the WiFi is off.
- Once the WiFi is back, Activate should switch back to online mode.
- Open the Check on the second device from Check Orders or All Orders view.
- The Checks opened offline on the first device are visible on the second device as Opened Checks in All Orders view.

- Add some items to the cart and open the Check
- In the top-right corner of the screen, tap the Connected Devices button.
- You’ll see how many devices are connected with the Check Syncing feature enabled as well as the IP address of the current device.
- The IP addresses of the connected devices will also be shown.
