Age Restrictions on IX in Interact X for Appetize

Overview

• Restrict purchase of items based on age limits on the kiosk.
• With IX 1.16, any alcohol modal messaging must be set up through item restrictions.
• Only Type: AGE restrictions are currently supported on IX.

Connect Setup

Vendor Roles

1. Under Vendor Role> Restrictions tab> Age section
2. Set Age Validation Enabled> YES
   • If set to NO, no messaging will appear in IX.

Item Restrictions

1. Under Item Restrictions, create a new restriction.
   • Name: Name of the restriction to be assigned directly to items.
   • Value: Minimum age for purchase.
   • Type: AGE
   • Manager Pin Required: Controls whether a manager needs to enter their pin in order to add the respective items to the cart. 
     Note: not respected in IX 1.16
   • Custom Prompt: Set any custom text for the restrictions modal in IX when an item is added, including button text.
2. Select the Assigned Venues tab to assign restrictions to venues.
   

Item Configuration

1. Under Items>Details tab
2. Use the dropdown to select the Age Restriction created in Step 2. Only one Age Restriction can be assigned per item.
   
   

Order Process in Interact X

• When the first item with an age restriction assigned is added to the cart, a modal will display. If accepted by the user, the item will successfully be added to the cart.
• When a second item is added with an age value equal to or lesser than the first, a second modal will not be shown.
• When a second item is added with an age value higher than the first, a second modal will display with the corresponding age restriction.
• Any custom messaging assigned to the age restriction will display in the modal. If no custom messaging is set, the modal will appear with the default text: "You must be at least {value} years old to purchase this item." where value = the value assigned to the age restriction and the buttons will read Cancel and Agree + Add to cart

Hardware Considerations

This feature will work on any currently supported hardware that is running the minimum version of Interact Kiosk.
