What is causing this Error?
This error is caused when SkyTab POS is not recognizing the Thermal Receipt Printer. The steps below walk you through how to identify the error and fix it. This error appears with one or both of the identifiers below:
- Attempting to print “Test Print” returns “USB Print Error: Please check the connection of the printer and the terminal. Connection was lost.”
- The icon of the printer at the top right is displayed in red.
How do I resolve this Error?
- Power cycle the Receipt Printer:
- Reseat the USB cable for the Receipt Printer from both sides: POS Terminal & Receipt Printer.
- Make sure there is no loose cable.
- After reseating the USB cable, try to do a test print on Printer Settings.
- If the test print is still not coming through after reseating the USB cable & power cycling the Receipt Printer, but you have an additional same model Receipt Printer which works, try taking the USB cable from the other printer to see if the issue is the USB cable. If it starts printing after replacing the USB cable, call Shift4 to get a replacement cable.
- Internal: Request a USB cable swap replacement from Support.
- If the test print is still not coming through after changing the USB cable, try force stopping the station in the Android settings.
