Description: Learn the steps to maintain seamless processing after device relocations between revenue centers. These directions are intended only for use with Universal Transaction Gateway (UTG) below version 3200.
Important: For UTG 3200+, “MID mismatch” is no longer possible as a PIN pad is no longer attached to an API Terminal ID (TID) in Lighthouse. One PIN pad can now be prompted by different access tokens (Merchant IDs) without any issues or adjustments. The POS/PMS routes funds from the PIN pad to a specific Merchant ID.
For complete details on the updated EMV device configuration, refer to the Universal Transaction Gateway 3200+ EMV Device Configuration Setup Changes article.
- Open Services and stop the Shift4 UTG2 service.
- Navigate to UTG TuneUp > Devices.
- Select the device and select View.
- Confirm the API Terminal ID and the Device Type.
- Enter the Source Serial number, select Close, and then Save.
- In Transaction Manager, navigate to Settings > EMV Devices and search for the venue or API TID.
-
Identify Available Slots:
If the API Terminal ID is not listed, search for the venue and identify an empty slot. Pay attention to the Merchant's Name. An available slot will be devoid of a device serial or API TID, indicating its availability. If a slot has an API Terminal ID but no device, first confirm that the terminal is not being used.
Ensure Unique API Terminal IDs:
Confirm that the required API Terminal ID is not repeated across any revenue centers.- If multiple slots contain the same API Terminal ID, update the names of duplicate entries to differentiate them.
- Also, make sure the API Terminal ID is updated in UTG TuneUp if changed in Transaction Manager.
Validate Device Serial Numbers:
Confirm that the device serial number is not already assigned to any other API TID. If a device serial number is assigned to a different API TID, remove it from that conflicting slot before proceeding. - Input the API Terminal number and leave the device serial empty. Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save the changes.
- Bring up UTG Standalone. Right-click anywhere within the window. Select Device Maintenance.
- Select the device and select Download Now.
- Return to Transaction Manager. Search for the venue or API Terminal ID again. Confirm that the updated API Terminal ID with a device serial number is now visible.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Shift4\EMV. Confirm that three files were downloaded with the device serial number, and proceed to test by performing a transaction.
Note: Changes may need to be made on the POS/PMS system if the API Terminal ID is adjusted within UTG TuneUp.
