Description: Learn how to enable location-specific menu data creation and allow users to manage the menu in SkyTab Multi-Location Management.
When to Use Location-Specific Menu Data
Create menu data (items, departments, etc.) at the location level when:
- A location needs different pricing, coursing, tax settings, availability, etc.
- You want to override the default Enterprise settings for just one or a few locations.
Note: Any data created or overridden at the location level will not affect other locations unless promoted or replicated through Enterprise-level tools.
For guidance on creating overrides, visit the Manage Data Inheritance and Overrides article.
Enable Location-Level Menu Data
To enable the location to create menu data:
- Navigate to Enterprise > Locations.
- Select the location to access its permissions.
- On the Edit Location screen, open the "Allow Local Data Creation" dropdown and select the appropriate checkbox based on the data type (Items, Departments, Modifiers, etc).
- Select Save.
Enable User Permissions
For general user management, visit the Manage Users and Set Permissions article.
To grant a user permission to manage menu data:
- Navigate to Settings > Users.
- Select an existing user or choose Add User to create a new one.
- Go to the Permissions tab.
- Expand the Product Settings dropdown, then expand SkyTab POS.
- Select the checkbox for "Manage the menu."
- Select Save.
For more information, visit the Security Settings article.
Manage Data at the Location Level
Once location data creation is enabled:
- Select the location from the hierarchy navigation panel in Enterprise.
- Any data created while this location is selected will apply only to that location.
- Use the ownership filter to choose between:
- Viewing only data created for this specific location, or
- Viewing all data inherited from higher levels
For more information, visit the Manage Data Inheritance and Overrides article.
Override a Value for a Location
To override inherited data for a specific location:
- Navigate to Enterprise > Locations
- Select the location to open its permissions and enable the specific menu overrides you want (Items, Departments, Modifiers, etc.).
- Select Save.
- Once enabled, you can override certain attributes for that location, replacing the inherited values.
- To revert to the inherited value, simply reset the override.
