Overview
Auto Split by Seat lets staff automatically split a ticket into separate checks per seat. It’s available from the Ticket Grid on:
- SkyTab Workstation (POS)
- SkyTab Air (Handheld)
- SkyTab Glass (Tablet)
Access it with a long press on any ticket or the Order Entry kebab menu.
How It Works
SkyTab Air
- Long press opens a quick action menu.
- "Auto Split by Seat" appears as the only option.
- Tapping the option opens a confirmation dialog.
SkyTab Workstation & Glass
- Long press opens a quick action menu
- "Auto Split by Seat" appears as the 3rd option after:
- Split Ticket
- Split by Seat
- ST Glass is optimized for touch-first tablet interaction.
When the Button Appears
The option is available only when:
- The ticket has 2 or more seats
- At least 2 seats have items assigned (table area not counted)
- The ticket isn’t already split
- Required modifiers are selected, or “Ignore Required Modifier Sets” is enabled
It still appears if:
- The ticket has partial payments
- The ticket is locked
- The user lacks permissions to manage/split tickets
Confirmation Prompts
After selecting “Auto Split by Seat":
- A confirmation dialog appears:
“This will create a separate ticket for each seat and open the ticket grid.”- Confirm to proceed with Auto Split
- Cancel to return to the original ticket
You may also see additional messages if:
- Loyalty is applied
“Applied loyalty accounts will be removed from newly created tickets.” - There are unsaved changes
“This ticket has unsaved changes. Would you like to save?” - Mandatory info is required (e.g., due to order type change)
After Splitting
- POS returns to the Ticket Grid view
- Loyalty is removed
- New tickets follow standard split-by-seat behavior
- Seat mapping and ticket names follow existing logic
Blocked Actions and Error Messages
If something prevents the action, such as a locked ticket or missing permission, the POS will display an on-screen message explaining the reason.

Can I use Auto Split by Seat from Order Entry?
Yes.
What happens to applied loyalty accounts?
They are removed from the newly created split tickets. A warning is shown before splitting.

What happens after I select Auto Split by Seat?
