Description: Learn to configure SkyTab Glass devices for SkyTab POS, including network connection, printer assignment, and tip prompts.
Connect SkyTab Glass to the Shift4 Network
Important: You need your WiFi passcode for this procedure. This information is on your WiFi Info Card provided with your Shift4 router during installation. If your network was configured by a third party or internal IT department, you will need to contact them to provide you with the passcode.
To add a Glass Device:
- Power on your SkyTab Glass device and install it in the provided R15 case.
- From the SkyTab Login page, swipe up to expose the Android menu and tap on the overflow menu (three dots) at the bottom left.
- Tap on the Settings button.
- In Android Settings, select Network & Internet.
- Choose the S4Device5G network.
- Enter the passcode from the WiFi Info Card provided with your router on the initial installation.
Note: If you do not have your passcode, contact SkyTab Support via live chat at shift4.com/support. If a third party or internal IT team provided your network, it may have a different name. They will need to supply both the network name and passcode.
Note: Ensure the SkyTab Glass hardware is installed, powered on, and connected to the network before following these steps.
Configure the Payment Device
The payment device must be selected on each Glass device.
Note: If no payment device is selected, a connection error will occur.
- On SkyTab Glass, navigate to Manager > Settings > Hardware Settings > Payment Devices.
- Select Payment Device at the top of the screen.
- Select Onboard Reader.
- Select Ok.
- Select Save.
SkyTab POS Printer Configuration
Each Glass device must be assigned to a receipt printer in SkyTab POS.
- On SkyTab Glass, navigate to Manager > Settings > Hardware > Printers.
- Press Add New Printer.
- Enter:
- Printer Name: Glass <terminal number> Receipts
- Connection: IP
- IP Address:
- Printer Model: Select the correct model.
- Printer will be used for: Receipts
- Assigned Station: Terminal number of the Glass
- Press Save.
Tip Flow Configuration
Decide whether customers should be prompted for tips on the Glass device.
- On SkyTab Glass, navigate to Manager > Settings > Payments > Credit > Prompt for Tip on Payment Device.
- Choose Yes or No:
- No: Adjust tips manually like Pin Pad payments.
- Yes: All devices (Glass + Pin Pads) will prompt for tips.
- To restrict tip prompts to Glass only:
- Disable Pin Pads: Manager > Settings > Hardware > Pin Pad > Prompt for Tip on Device > Off
- Set Tip Suggestions: General Printer Settings > Tip Hints for each Glass printer.
