Description: Learn how to configure the SkyTab POS cash drawer.
Note: If you haven’t yet connected your cash drawer, install and connect it first before configuring it in the POS system.
To configure the cash drawer:
- On SkyTab POS, select Manager > Settings > Hardware.
- Enable the Use Cash Drawer toggle.
- Select Save.
- Verify Receipt Printer is configured and assigned to the POS Terminal. For more information, visit the Configure the Receipt Printer article.
Verify Functionality
- When both the USB printer and cash drawer are installed correctly and the drawer is configured on the POS, receipts should print, and the cash drawer should open.
- If the drawer opens via the secret menu, users with the correct permissions can open it normally. Permissions are detailed in the Cash Drawer Functions article.
Dual Cash Drawer Setup
- On SkyTab POS, navigate to Manager > Settings > Hardware > Printers/KDS.
- Select the printer that has both cash drawers connected.
- Select Edit Printer/KDS Setup.
- Select the appropriate station from the dropdown for Assigned Station, as noted on your display (Step 3 in Hardware Setup), and select Ok, then Save.
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- Slide the toggle to enable Printer Has Second Cash Drawer Connected.
- Select Save.
The next time a user clocks in, they are presented with an option to choose either Cash Drawer 1 or Cash Drawer 2.
