Configure Pre-Modifiers and Pre-Modifier Sets in SkyTab Lighthouse Business Manager

Overview

Pre-Modifiers allow you to add clarifying prefixes to modifiers for preparation or placement instructions, such as:

• Placement: SIDE, ON THE SIDE, LEFT SIDE, RIGHT SIDE, WHOLE
• Quantity: LITE, EXTRA

You can also assign a price adjustment to a Pre-Modifier, either as a fixed dollar amount or a percentage.

Once your Pre-Modifiers and Pre-Modifier Sets are configured, visit the Use Pre-Modifiers on SkyTab POS article to learn how to apply them during order entry.

Create Pre-Modifiers

1. Log in to Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM).
2. Navigate to SkyTab Settings > Menu > Pre-Modifiers.
   
3. Select Add Pre-Modifier.
   
4. Enter a Name (required).
   
5. Optional settings:
   • Kitchen Print Name
   • Pre-Modifier Color
   • Print Red or Bold
6. Select Save. Once your Pre-Modifiers are saved, the next step is to create a Pre-Modifier Set and assign your Pre-Modifiers to it.

Create a Pre-Modifier Set

1. Navigate to the Pre-Modifier Sets tab and select Add Pre-Modifier Set.
   
2. Enter a Name.
3. Add at least one Pre-Modifier using the drop-down list.
   
4. (Optional) Configure a price adjustment for each Pre-Modifier in the set:
   1. Choose Percentage (%) or Flat ($).
   2. Enter the adjustment amount.
   3. Select Save.
5. Select Save to apply changes.
   Note: This “global” Pre-Modifier Set will appear in SkyTab POS (both Workstation and Air) on the modifier page for every item that has at least one assigned modifier set.

Reorder Pre-Modifiers

1. Open the Pre-Modifier set you want to edit.
   
2. Select Edit Pre-Modifiers Order. 
   
3. Drag and drop the items into the desired order.
   
4. Select Save on the Reorder screen, then Save again on the Edit screen.

How Price Adjustments Work

• Positive values increase the modifier’s base price.
• Negative values decrease the modifier’s base price but cannot reduce it below $0.

Examples:

Notes: 

• Currently, only one Pre-Modifier Set is supported. It appears for every item that has at least one modifier set. Future updates will allow multiple sets. 
• Pre-Modifiers and Pre-Modifier Sets can only be created in Lighthouse.
• Price adjustments cannot reduce a modifier below $0. Negative values cannot be used as discounts.
• Pre-Modifiers are not compatible with:
  • SkyTab Online Ordering
  • Third-party delivery platforms (Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc.)
  • SkyTab Kiosk
  • SkyTab Mobile
