Description: Learn how to enable or disable customizations for the Shift4 connector that deviate from the standard out-of-the-box experience for Dynamics 365.
Use these as needed and only for what applies to your use-case.
Enable Configuration
- Navigate to Retail and Commerce > Headquarters setup > Parameters > Commerce parameters.
- From Commerce parameters, navigate to Configuration parameters.

Add a new record for the desired customization, and set its value accordingly.
A list of acceptable parameters and their expected values:
Name Value Description SHIFT4_SEND_CUSTOMERNAME_FOR_PAYMENT [1,0] Use this parameter to Enable/Disable whether or not the Customer Name is captured from Credit Cards and sent to Shift4
- To omit the Customer name from the sale request, set this parameter value to “0”
- To continue to send the Customer name on the sale request, set this parameter value to “1”
Available on version 10.1.1.0 or higher
SHIFT4_USE_NUMERIC_PERSON [1,0] Use this parameter to change the behavior of the Payment Connector when using Alpha-Numeric Personnel numbers in Dynamics 365
- To continue using the Numeric value of the Personnel number, set this parameter value to “0”
- To enable handling Alpha-numeric Personnel numbers set this parameter value to “1”
Available on version 10.2.4.0 or higher
SHIFT4_USE_CLOUDTERMINAL_FOR_CALLCENTER [1,0] Use this parameter to enable/disable support for Commerce Engine Cloud to process card-present transactions using the Call Center module
- To continue using i4Go/REST from the call center for CNP environments, set this value to “0”
- To enable support for EMV supported devices from the Call center, set this value to “1”

Enabling this feature ensures that transactions are handled correctly based on their settlement status and the items being returned.
- To enable support for Voids when performing same-day Returns from Store Commerce POS, set this value to “1”
- To continue using the standard refund experience from Store Commerce POS, set this value to “0”
