DCC Chargebacks
- To remain compliant with card network rules and help prevent disputes, merchants must ensure that customers are clearly offered a choice of currencies and that the exchange rate and final converted amount are displayed before the transaction is authorized. The receipt should reflect both currencies and confirm that the cardholder accepted the conversion.
- Chargebacks related to DCC most commonly occur when customers claim they were not given a currency choice or were unaware of the conversion. Proper disclosure, allowing the cardholder to select the currency themselves, and maintaining receipts that show the DCC acceptance are key to successfully defending these disputes.
