Description: Learn to understand and configure default modifiers in Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM) and SkyTab POS to streamline ordering and menu setup.
Note: This feature is currently available only for Pilot users.
Default Modifiers allow specific modifiers (such as ingredients or add-ons) to be automatically selected when an item is added to an order. These defaults represent the standard build of a menu item while still allowing staff to quickly remove or adjust them.
For example, a Bacon Burger may include lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle, and bacon by default. If a guest requests no pickles, the server can simply deselect that option during order entry.
Why Default Modifiers Matter
Default Modifiers help streamline operations and improve accuracy across your menu:
- Faster order entry with fewer taps
- Clear communication of standard recipes to staff
- Simpler menu configuration with less need for “NO” modifier sets
- More accurate reporting by avoiding false ingredient usage
How Default Modifiers Work
Default Modifiers are configured at the item level within assigned modifier sets.
Modifier sets are still applied to items as usual, but individual modifiers within those sets can be marked as default. This allows multiple items to share the same modifier set while using different default selections.
