Description: Learn how to use the long-press menu in Table View to pay, split, transfer, fire a course, and print a guest check directly from a table card without opening the ticket first.
Overview
The Table View in Shift4 Dine includes a long-press menu on occupied table cards. Instead of opening a ticket to perform common actions, you can press and hold any occupied table card to access those actions directly from the Table View.
The long-press menu is available on both the Workstation and Handheld.
Access the Long-Press Menu
- From the home screen, tap Tables to open the Table View.
- Press and hold an occupied table card. The long-press menu appears with the available actions for the ticket in that table.
- Tap the action you want to perform.
Note: The long-press menu is only available on tables with a single active ticket. Tables with multiple active tickets are not supported at this time.
Available Actions
Fire Next Course
Sends the next held course to the kitchen for that ticket. This option only appears when Quick Coursing is enabled. Use this when guests are ready for their next course, and you want to send it to the kitchen without navigating into the ticket.
Pay
Opens the payment screen for the ticket on that table. Use during busy service when speed at the end of the meal matters.
Split
Opens the Manage Ticket screen, where you can split by seat, auto split, and access other ticket management options. Use this when guests want separate checks or need tickets reorganized.
Transfer Server
Opens the server selection screen so you can reassign the ticket to another server. Use this during shift changes or when a table needs to be handed off.
Transfer Table
Moves the ticket to a different table. On the Workstation, this opens the Transfer Table screen with the full table layout. For a complete walkthrough, visit the Transfer a Table in Table View article.
Print Guest Check
Prints the guest check for that table's ticket immediately. Use this to drop a check at the table without interrupting the order entry workflow.
Limitations
- The long-press menu is currently not available on tables with multiple active tickets. To manage those tables, open the ticket from the Table View as usual.
- For ticket-level actions not listed above, you still need to open the ticket directly.
