Description: Learn how to move a ticket to a different table using the Transfer Table screen in the Shift4 Dine Table View.
Before You Begin
Transfer Table is initiated from the long-press menu in Table View. Visit the Use Table View Ticket Actions in Shift4 Dine article for instructions on accessing the long-press menu.
Transfer a Table on the Workstation
- Press and hold the occupied table card you want to transfer, then tap Transfer Table from the long-press menu. You can also initiate a transfer from within an open ticket using the existing transfer option.
- The Transfer Table screen opens, showing your full table layout. Tap the table you want to move the ticket to.
Note: On Handheld, the classic table list displays instead of the Transfer Table screen when selecting a destination table. The rest of the flow is the same. - If the destination table already has an active ticket, a confirmation prompt appears. Tap Confirm to proceed or Back to select a different table.

The ticket moves to the destination table. The original table now appears empty in the Table View.
Limitations
- If you transfer to an occupied table, the ticket is added alongside the existing ticket — tickets are not merged automatically. To merge tickets, select them in the Ticket Grid and use the Combine function in Manage Tickets.
- Transfer Table is not available on tables with multiple active tickets. This will be addressed in a future update.
