Description: Learn the process to recover the Store and Forward (SAF) database via local export.
Requirement: Before completing the steps below, please contact the Shift4 Customer Support team to open a support case.
In the extremely rare event that you believe there is a mismatch between your batch and bank records, it
may be necessary to recover the device’s temporary SAF database to determine if the
transactions within are the cause. You need to complete the following steps while working with
the Shift4 Customer Support team.
- To access the Shift4 Commerce Engine administrative UI, complete the following steps:
- From a computer located in the same network as the Commerce Engine device, open a web browser.
- Enter http://<IP of the PAX Device>:9100/admin/ in the address bar.
- Press Enter on the keyboard.
- From the menu, select Database.
- Select Export.
- Follow the prompts to locally save the package.
Note: The database and keys will be zipped into a single package (available in the Downloads folder on the local computer), and the name will follow this format:
safdb_<DEVICESERIALNUMBER>_<YYYYMMDD>.zip. - After you complete the steps above, you need to give the package to the Shift4 Customer Support representative you are working with.
- The Shift4 Customer Support representative will provide the package to the Shift4 Development team to decrypt the package and initiate the manual recovery process.
