Description: Learn how to pull Commerce Engine log files from PAX devices.
Pull Logs via AirViewer
Note: This option requires the customer to be present at the PAX device to allow AirViewer connectivity.
- Log in to the PAXSTORE website using your assigned credentials.
- Select the Marketplace List (3 x 3 grid) button at the top right by your user name.
- Select SHIFT4 MARKETPLACE from the Marketplace List.
- Navigate to Terminal Management on the left side panel.
- Select the Terminal List tab from the navigation at the top.
- Enter the search criteria (usually MID, device SN, or DBA Name) into the search bar, then choose the desired account from the results list.
- Once you’ve located the device, select it to open it up and navigate to AirViewer.
- If AirViewer is not currently installed on the device, the following screen will display.
- Select INSTALL AIRVIEWER to install it.
- Once installed, you will have the option to connect to the device.
Select CONNECT. - The device will prompt up a message asking for approval to connect. Select APPROVE on the physical device.
- The device should be connected and displayed in PAXSTORE.
- Select the Apply for Remote Control button.
- The device will display a message on the screen asking for approval. Select APPROVE on the physical device.
- Select the File Transfer button.
- The merchant will be prompted to approve again. Select APPROVE on the physical device.
- You should see the device’s file system in PAXSTORE.
- Select Android > data > com.shift4.commerceengine > files > Logs.
- Select the download button for each of the log files.
This will download the log file to your downloads folder
Pull Logs via Web Admin UI
- To access the Commerce Engine Admin Panel, open up a web browser from a computer located in the same network as the Commerce Engine device and launch http://<IP of the PAX Device>:9100/admin/
- For example, if your device IP is 192.168.1.24, enter http://192.168.1.24:9100/admin/ in your browser.
- Make sure the final / after admin is included, or it will not work.
- Select the Logs tab.
- Select the Export button next to each log to download them.
